Accessibility Issues and Discussion -- ADA Compliance

Accessibility as a feature was discussed here. We described the legal/historical background and provided links to resources. Not to be redundant, but making an application accessible is morally and often legally required for government at all levels. We believe that it is very likely to become a more strict rule moving forward, so we have decided to make it a priority in GovernERP to be as compliant to the WCAG 2.0 Level AAA checkpoints as possible.

Accessibility & Strict XHTML

GovernERP is presenting itself as a web application with other modes of delivery possible in the future. As a web application achieving Strict XHTML compliance, separating content from formatting by using external CSS, reducing the use of client-side scripting and making sure that what is used complies with the accessibilty checkpoints in WCAG 2.0, is critical.

In addition, it is important to use tables only for tabular data and not for general positioning of forms and to use font sizing that can be made smaller or larger based on a user's needs.
